A low-level atmospheric disturbance near Sri Lanka will continue to bring widespread rain and thunderstorms across the island over the next few days.According to the latest forecast, showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the country after 1.00 p.m. Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western and North-Central provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara and Mannar. Morning showers are also expected in the Western, Southern and Northern provinces.
Misty conditions may develop during the early morning in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and in the Kurunegala district, which could reduce visibility for motorists.
Residents are strongly advised to take precautions against temporary localized strong winds, lightning and possible flooding during thunderstorms.

Sea Areas Forecast
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in sea areas around the island. Winds will be south-westerly or variable, with speeds ranging from 25 to 35 kmph. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate.
Fishermen and naval communities should remain alert, as strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur suddenly during thundershowers.The unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist, and the public is encouraged to stay updated with the latest forecasts from the Department of Meteorology.
