Fair Weather Expected Across Sri Lanka with Rough Seas in Some Coastal Areas
Mainly fair weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Sri Lanka on January 16, according to the latest weather forecast. Improved conditions will bring stable and dry weather to much of the island, offering favorable conditions for daily activities.
However, misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours in several areas, including the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Motorists and commuters are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility, particularly in hilly and low-lying regions.
Marine weather conditions around the island are expected to remain generally fair during the next 24 hours. Most sea areas will experience calm conditions, although stronger winds may develop at times. Winds will be north-easterly, with speeds ranging between 25 and 35 kmph. Wind speeds can increase up to 50 kmph in sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
As a result, rough sea conditions are expected at times in these areas, while the remaining sea areas around the island will remain slight to moderate. Fishermen and naval communities operating in affected regions are advised to remain vigilant, particularly during periods of stronger winds.
Overall, the prevailing fair weather is expected to continue across the island, with limited weather-related disruptions.
