SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, JANUARY 18, 2026

Dry Weather to Prevail Across Sri Lanka with Frost Risk in Nuwara Eliya

Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Sri Lanka on January 18, bringing stable atmospheric conditions to the island, according to the latest weather forecast. These favorable conditions are likely to support normal daily activities in many regions.

However, there is a possibility of ground frost during the early morning hours at some places in the Nuwara Eliya district, particularly in high-altitude areas. Farmers and residents in frost-prone regions are advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage to crops and vegetation.

In addition, misty conditions are expected at several locations during the early hours of the morning. Reduced visibility may occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara and Ampara districts. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, especially along hilly roads and low-lying areas.

Marine weather conditions around the island are expected to remain generally fair over the next 24 hours. Winds will be north-easterly, with speeds ranging between 25 and 35 kmph. However, wind speeds may strengthen up to 50 kmph at times in sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

As a result, rough sea conditions are expected at times in these areas, while other sea regions around the island will remain slight to moderate. Fishermen and naval operators are advised to remain cautious during periods of strong winds.
