Rough Sea Conditions Expected in Several Sea Areas Around Sri Lanka

Showers are expected at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee during the next 24 hours, the Department of Meteorology said. Showers or thundershowers may also occur at a few places in other sea areas around the island during the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly with speeds of 30–40 kmph, increasing at times up to 50–55 kmph in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalutara to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Kalutara to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and from Hambantota to Pottuvil are expected to be rough at times, while other sea areas around the island will remain moderate.
Fishermen and naval communities are advised to be vigilant as temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
