Showery Conditions to Intensify Across Sri Lanka from December 16

Showery conditions across the island are expected to intensify from tomorrow (December 16) under the influence of an easterly wave, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces, while showers or thundershowers are likely at several places in other parts of the island after 1.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of about 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
Misty conditions are expected in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
