Several parts of Sri Lanka will continue to experience wet and windy weather on 22 July 2026, according to the latest weather forecast. Intermittent showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts throughout the day.
Meanwhile, Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts may experience showers or thundershowers after 2.00 p.m. Residents in these areas should be prepared for brief periods of heavy rain and possible lightning. Most other parts of the island are expected to enjoy mainly dry weather.
Strong winds remain a concern, especially across the Northern and North-Central provinces and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, where wind speeds of 40–50 kmph are expected at times. The public is advised to remain cautious and take necessary safety measures to reduce the risk of damage from localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
Sea Condition
For sea areas around Sri Lanka, a few showers are likely off the coast stretching from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle. South-westerly winds will prevail at speeds of 30–40 kmph, increasing up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.
