Showery weather will continue across Sri Lanka as a low-level atmospheric disturbance near the island is expected to develop into a low-pressure area around 11 May. As a result, unsettled weather conditions are likely to persist over the next few days, bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms.
According to the forecast, showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the country, with cloudy skies prevailing throughout the day. Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva, North-Western and Northern provinces, as well as in the Anuradhapura District.
Residents are strongly advised to take precautions against localized strong winds, lightning, and possible flooding during intense thundershowers.

Sea Areas Forecast
Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the sea areas around the island. Winds will be south-westerly or variable in direction with speeds of 20–30 kmph. Sea conditions will be slight to moderate. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can occur during thundershowers.
Fishermen and naval communities are advised to remain alert and monitor weather updates before heading out to sea.
