Showery Conditions to Ease Across Sri Lanka from January 15
Weather conditions across Sri Lanka are expected to gradually improve from January 15, with a noticeable reduction in showers, according to the latest forecast issued for 14 January 2026.
A few showers may still occur in parts of the Uva, Eastern and Central provinces, while isolated showers or thundershowers are possible in the Colombo, Kalutara, Galle, Matara and Ratnapura districts after 2.00 p.m. However, mainly fair weather is expected to prevail in most other areas of the island.
Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, including the Galle and Matara districts, which may affect visibility.
The general public is advised to remain vigilant, as temporary localized strong winds and lightning may accompany thundershowers in affected areas. Authorities urge residents to take necessary precautions and stay alert to future weather updates issued by the Department of Meteorology.
