Sri Lanka is expected to experience a mix of isolated showers and mainly dry weather on 26 July 2026, according to the latest weather forecast. A few showers are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Most other parts of the country will remain dry throughout the day.
Strong winds will continue to affect several regions. Wind speeds of 40–50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Hambantota, Trincomalee and Puttalam districts. Residents in these areas are advised to secure loose outdoor objects and remain alert to changing weather conditions.
Sea Conditions
At sea, a few showers may occur in the waters extending from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle. South-westerly winds will generally range between 30–40 kmph, but stronger winds of 50–60 kmph are expected in the sea areas from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Winds may also increase up to 50 kmph in the waters from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar.
Sea conditions will be rough off the coast from Hambantota to Pottuvil and fairly rough from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar. Wave heights are forecast to reach 2.0 to 2.5 meters in the sea areas from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Fishermen and marine users are advised to exercise caution before venturing out to sea.
