SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR 15 JUNE 2026

Sri Lanka is expected to experience a mix of light showers and dry weather on 15 July 2026, according to the latest forecast issued at 2.00 p.m. on 14 July. While most parts of the island will remain dry, a few showers are likely in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.

Strong winds will continue to be a key weather feature across several regions. Wind speeds of 40–50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the North-Central and North-Western provinces, and in the Monaragala, Hambantota, Trincomalee, and Mannar districts. Residents in these areas should take extra care, especially when traveling or engaging in outdoor activities.

Sea Condition

For sea areas around the island, a few showers may occur off the coast from Negombo to Galle via Colombo. South-westerly winds are forecast to blow at 30–40 kmph, with speeds increasing to 50–60 kmph in sea areas from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Puttalam and Kankasanthurai, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Winds may also reach 50 kmph in other surrounding sea areas.

Sea conditions will remain rough at times in the stronger wind zones, while other coastal waters are expected to be fairly rough. Wave heights may increase to 2.0–2.5 meters in sea areas extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota. Fishermen, naval operators, and other marine users are advised to remain alert and exercise caution before venturing out to sea.
