SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR 08 JULY 2026

Several spells of showers are expected to continue across parts of Sri Lanka on 08 July 2026, according to the latest weather forecast. Rainfall is likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya, while mainly dry weather is expected to prevail over the rest of the island.

Strong winds will remain a significant feature of today’s weather. Wind speeds of 40–50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central, Central, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, including the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise caution, especially when travelling or engaging in outdoor activities.

Sea Conditions

For sea areas around Sri Lanka, a few showers are expected off the coast from Chilaw to Galle via Colombo. South-westerly winds will blow at 30–40 kmph, increasing to 55–60 kmph at times in the sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Other sea areas may also experience wind speeds up to 50 kmph.

Sea conditions will be very rough in the affected northern and southeastern coastal waters and fairly rough elsewhere. Fishermen and naval communities are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and stay updated with the latest weather advisories before venturing out to sea.
