According to the latest forecast issued by the Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka, unsettled weather conditions are expected across several parts of the island today. Showers or thundershowers will develop at multiple locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces after 1.00 p.m. Similar conditions are also expected in the districts of Polonnaruwa, Galle, and Matara, with occasional heavy downpours likely during the afternoon and evening hours.
In addition, morning showers are likely in the coastal areas of the Southern Province, as well as in the Colombo and Kalutara districts. Early morning misty conditions may occur in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, along with Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts, reducing visibility for motorists.
The public is strongly advised to take necessary precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers, as these conditions may lead to minor damages and hazardous situations.
