Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several places across most parts of Sri Lanka after 2.00 p.m. today. These afternoon and evening showers may bring temporary changes in weather conditions, particularly in the western and central regions of the island.
Fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, as well as in the districts of Kurunegala, Galle and Matara. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert, as heavy showers may lead to localized flooding and slippery road conditions.
Misty conditions can also be expected during the early hours of the morning in parts of the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, and in Anuradhapura, Kurunegala and Badulla districts. Motorists are advised to drive carefully due to reduced visibility.
The general public is kindly requested to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
