SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW,24 APRIL 2026

Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at most places across Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today, bringing widespread rainfall to many regions of the island. According to the latest forecast issued at 2.00 p.m. on 23 April 2026, fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern provinces.

In addition, coastal areas of the Southern Province may experience a few showers during the morning hours before the main afternoon rainfall develops. These conditions indicate active atmospheric instability, increasing the likelihood of intense showers in several parts of the country.

Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Vavuniya and Kurunegala districts. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.

The general public is kindly urged to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas from Matara to Batticaloa via Hambantota and Pottuvil, while a few showers are expected elsewhere. Winds will be south-easterly or variable at 20–30 kmph. Sea conditions will be slight, but temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas may develop during thundershowers.
