Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m., bringing widespread rainfall across the island. Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm are likely at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara district. In addition, a few showers may occur in the Northern and Eastern provinces during the morning hours.
Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces, along with the Galle and Matara districts. Motorists are advised to be cautious due to reduced visibility.
The public is kindly requested to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas surrounding the island, particularly from Chilaw to Matara via Mannar, Kankasanthurai, Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Hambantota. Winds will be south-easterly or variable with speeds of 20–30 kmph. Sea conditions will be generally slight, but temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
