Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m., particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, Uva and North-Western provinces. A few showers may also occur during the morning hours in coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces and in the Puttalam district.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some locations, especially in Sabaragamuwa Province and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious as temporary localized strong winds and lightning may accompany thundershowers.
Meanwhile, mainly fair weather will prevail in other parts of the island. Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara and Kurunegala districts. Motorists should exercise caution due to possible reduced visibility.
