Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at most places across Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today, bringing widespread afternoon rainfall to many areas of the island. Fairly heavy falls of about 75 mm are likely at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected during the early hours of the morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, along with the Galle, Matara and Vavuniya districts. Motorists are advised to be cautious due to reduced visibility. The general public is also urged to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka during the period from 05 to 15 April. Today (14 April), areas such as Nawaladi, Paranthan, Murasumodai, Vellikkandal, Udapattukkandal and Puliyampokkanei will experience the sun overhead around 12:10 p.m.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours):
Showers or thundershowers may occur in sea areas from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Batticaloa. Winds will be south-westerly or variable at 20–30 kmph, and sea conditions will be slight. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas are possible during thundershowers.
