Showers or thundershowers are expected at a few locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces later in the day, particularly after 2.00 p.m. Similar weather conditions may also affect the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Mannar. These showers could bring temporary localized strong winds and lightning, and the public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce possible damages.
Most other parts of the island will experience mainly dry weather throughout the day. However, misty conditions are likely during the early morning hours in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara district, which may reduce visibility for motorists.
Meanwhile, due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it will be directly overhead across several parts of Sri Lanka around midday. Areas such as Chilaw, Bingiriya, Panduwasnuwara, and Kirankulam will experience the sun nearly overhead at about 12:12 p.m.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
A few showers or thundershowers are likely in sea areas from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be south-westerly or variable at 20–30 kmph, increasing up to 40–45 kmph at times. Sea conditions may be fairly rough in areas from Galle to Pottuvil, while other sea regions remain slight.
