Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across Sri Lanka after 2.00 p.m., particularly in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa district. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces. These conditions may bring temporary localized strong winds and lightning, and the public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce potential damage.
Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours in several areas, including the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and North-Central provinces, along with the Jaffna and Kurunegala districts, which may reduce visibility for motorists.
Meanwhile, due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it will be directly overhead in parts of Sri Lanka from 05 to 15 April. On 05 April, areas such as Dodanduwa, Rathgama, Akuressa, and surrounding regions will experience overhead sun conditions around 12:13 p.m.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
A few showers or thundershowers may occur in sea areas from Galle to Batticaloa via Hambantota and Pottuvil during the evening or night. Winds will be south-westerly or variable at 20–30 kmph, and sea conditions will remain generally slight, although gusty winds and rough seas are possible during thundershowers.
