SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, JANUARY 21, 2026

Dry Weather to Continue Across Sri Lanka Until January 23

Mainly dry weather will continue to prevail across most parts of Sri Lanka on January 21, according to the latest weather forecast issued at 2.00 p.m. on January 20. However, meteorologists note that the current dry weather pattern is expected to change from January 23, indicating the possibility of increased rainfall in the days ahead.

During the early morning hours, there is a chance of ground frost in some parts of the Nuwara Eliya district, particularly in higher elevations. Residents and farmers in these areas are advised to remain alert and take necessary measures to protect crops and sensitive vegetation.

In addition, misty conditions are likely at several locations during the morning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara and Ampara districts. Reduced visibility may be experienced on roads, especially in hilly and low-lying areas.

For sea areas around the island, mainly fair weather is expected to prevail during the next 24 hours. North-easterly to northerly winds will blow at speeds of 25 to 35 kmph, with wind speeds occasionally increasing up to 45 kmph in sea areas extending from Mannar to Galle via Colombo, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Sea conditions in these areas may become fairly rough at times, while other surrounding sea areas will remain slight to moderate.

Fishermen and naval communities are advised to remain cautious in areas where stronger winds and rough seas may occur.
