Showers and Strong Winds Expected Across Several Provinces on December 14
The Department of Meteorology forecasts several spells of showers across the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, Central and North-Western provinces on Sunday (December 14).
Showers or thundershowers are also likely to occur at several places in other parts of the island after 1.00 p.m., the department said.
Fairly strong winds, reaching speeds of around 30–40 kmph, can be expected at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces. Similar wind conditions are likely in the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
Misty conditions may prevail during the early morning hours in parts of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
