Showers and Strong Winds Forecast Across Several Provinces Over Next 36 Hours

The Department of Meteorology has issued a general weather forecast for the next 36 hours, warning of showers, strong winds and misty conditions in several parts of the country.
According to the forecast issued at 4.00 p.m. on Saturday (December 13), several spells of showers are expected in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, Central and North-Western provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur at several places in other areas of the island after 1.00 p.m.

Fairly strong winds, with speeds of around 30–40 kmph, are likely at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces. Similar wind conditions are expected in the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours in parts of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
