Widespread Showers Expected Tomorrow, Strong Winds in Several Districts
Colombo, Dec. 12, 2025 — The Department of Meteorology has issued the weather forecast for 13 December 2025, warning of widespread showers, possible thunderstorms, and localized strong winds across several regions of the island.
According to the advisory issued at 2.00 p.m. today (12), Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva, Central and North-Western provinces will experience several spells of showers throughout the day.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are expected in several other parts of the country after 1.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm likely in some areas.
The Met Department also forecasts fairly strong winds ranging between 30–40 km/h over the eastern slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, including the Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
Additionally, misty conditions are expected in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces during the early morning hours.
Authorities urge the public to take adequate precautions, especially against localized strong winds and lightning associated with evening thundershowers.
