Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across Sri Lanka on 07 October, particularly after 1.00 p.m. The Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western and Southern provinces, along with Anuradhapura and Mannar districts, are likely to experience afternoon rainfall. Fairly heavy falls exceeding 75 mm are possible at some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Southern provinces.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions during thundershowers, as temporary localized strong winds and lightning may occur. Misty conditions are also expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early morning hours.
Sea Areas Forecast – Next 24 Hours
Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Matara via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle during the evening or night. Winds will be south-westerly or variable, with speeds of around 20–30 kmph.
Sea conditions around the island are expected to remain slight under normal conditions. However, during thundershowers, temporarily strong gusty winds reaching 60–70 kmph and very rough seas can be expected. Fishing and naval communities are advised to remain alert to sudden changes in weather and sea conditions.
