Heavy Showers Expected Across Several Provinces
Showers and thundershowers are expected across most parts of Sri Lanka on Wednesday, 04 November 2026.
Rainfall is expected to develop in most areas of the island after 1.00 p.m., with fairly heavy falls exceeding 75 mm likely at some locations. The North-Central, North-Western, Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Western and Southern provinces are particularly likely to experience heavier rainfall.
Residents in these provinces are advised to remain alert to changing weather conditions, as heavy showers may be accompanied by temporary localized strong winds and lightning. The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by strong gusts and lightning during thundershowers.
Misty conditions can also be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early morning hours. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility in these areas.

Sea Areas Forecast for the Next 24 Hours
Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the sea areas around Sri Lanka. Winds will be south-westerly or southerly at speeds of 25–35 kmph, occasionally increasing to 40–45 kmph in sea areas extending from Chilaw to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankasanthurai.
These sea areas may become fairly rough at times, while other sea areas around the island are expected to remain moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds reaching 60–70 kmph and very rough seas are possible during thundershowers. Naval and fishing communities are advised to remain cautious and monitor weather updates.
