Heavy Showers, Strong Winds and Morning Mist Expected

The Department of Meteorology forecasts unsettled weather conditions across several parts of Sri Lanka today, with showers, strong winds, and misty conditions expected in multiple regions.
Showers are expected at times in the Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts. Fairly heavy rainfall of around 75 mm may occur in some locations, increasing the risk of localized flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, several spells of showers are likely in the North-Western Province and the Anuradhapura district, while showers or thundershowers may develop after 1.00 p.m. in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The Meteorology Department also warns of fairly strong winds reaching up to 40 kmph at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, and in Trincomalee, Hambantota, and Monaragala districts.
The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize potential damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, especially in mist-prone and rain-affected areas.
