Showers or thundershowers are expected to affect most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today, bringing unsettled weather conditions across the island. According to the latest forecast issued at 5.30 a.m., fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee district. Residents in these areas should remain alert for possible localized impacts such as water accumulation and temporary disruptions.
In addition to the afternoon showers, light rain is also expected in parts of the Southern Province and the Kalutara district during the morning hours. Meanwhile, misty conditions may occur early in the day in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central, and Uva provinces, reducing visibility in some areas.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions against potential hazards caused by thundershowers, including strong gusty winds and lightning.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in sea areas extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be south-westerly at 25–35 kmph, occasionally strengthening up to 45 kmph, particularly in sea areas from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar. These sea regions may experience fairly rough conditions at times, while other surrounding waters will be slight to moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas are expected during thundershowers.
