Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today, bringing widespread rainfall across the island. According to the forecast, fairly heavy falls exceeding 50 mm are likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Badulla district. Residents in these areas are advised to remain cautious as intense showers may lead to localized flooding or disruptions.
In addition, morning showers are likely in the coastal areas of the Southern Province and in the Kalutara and Colombo districts. Misty conditions can also be expected during the early hours in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central, and Uva provinces, which may reduce visibility for motorists.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
