According to the latest statement issued by the Nepal Tourism Board, no Sri Lankan nationals have been reported missing following the devastating flash floods in Nepal’s Rasuwa area.
A total of 644 people are currently listed as missing, including 517 foreign nationals from 32 countries and 127 Nepalese nationals. Indian nationals account for the highest number of missing foreigners, with 178 people reported missing.
The list also includes 65 Americans, 53 Ukrainians, 51 Malaysians and 35 Australians. In addition, 33 British nationals and 25 Canadians remain unaccounted for.
Among other missing foreign nationals are nine Singaporeans, eight Germans, eight Russians, six Latvians, six South Africans, five Japanese and five New Zealanders. The statement also lists four French nationals, three Belgians and three Spaniards.
Two people each from Italy, Ireland, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands and Portugal are reported missing. One national each from Belarus, Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Lithuania, the Philippines, Serbia, Sweden and Switzerland is also listed.
The Nepal Tourism Board said security forces, rescue teams and relief workers are continuing search and rescue operations to locate the missing persons and provide assistance to communities affected by the disaster.
