Sri Lanka is expected to experience a mix of showers, dry weather, and strong winds on 13 July 2026, according to the latest weather forecast issued at 2.00 p.m. on 12 July 2026. Rainfall will mainly affect the south-western parts of the island, while most other regions are expected to remain dry.
Several spells of showers are forecast for the Sabaragamuwa Province and the districts of Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara throughout the day. Meanwhile, a few light showers may also occur in the Western and North-Western provinces. Residents in the remaining parts of the country can expect mainly dry weather with generally stable conditions.
Strong winds will continue to influence several areas of the island. Wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the North-Central and North-Western provinces, and in the districts of Monaragala, Hambantota, Trincomalee, and Mannar. People living in these areas are advised to remain cautious, especially when travelling or engaging in outdoor activities.
Sea Conditions
Marine conditions are expected to remain challenging during the next 24 hours. A few showers may occur in the sea areas extending from Negombo to Galle via Colombo. South-westerly winds will generally range between 30 and 40 kmph, but may strengthen to 50–60 kmph in the sea areas from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Wind speeds in other surrounding sea areas may also increase to around 50 kmph at times.
The sea will be rough in these affected coastal waters, while other sea areas may become fairly rough. Wave heights are expected to reach 2.0 to 2.5 metres in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota. Fishermen and mariners are advised to exercise caution before venturing out to sea.
