SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR TODAY,03 MAY 2026

Showers or thundershowers are expected to develop across several parts of Sri Lanka today, particularly after 2.00 p.m. According to the forecast, rainfall activity will affect the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, North-Central, and Eastern provinces, as well as the districts of Badulla, Galle, and Matara.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the districts of Colombo, Kalutara, Galle, and Matara. In addition, coastal areas of the Southern Province, along with Colombo and Kalutara districts, may experience showers during the morning hours as well.

Misty conditions can be expected in the early morning at some locations in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara district. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility during these hours.

The general public is strongly advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be south-westerly with speeds of 25–35 kmph, increasing up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

The sea areas off these coasts will be fairly rough at times, while other sea areas around the island will remain moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
