Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at most places across Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today, according to the latest forecast issued at 5.30 a.m. The afternoon weather pattern will bring widespread rainfall to many regions, with fairly heavy falls exceeding 75 mm likely at some locations. These heavier showers are expected mainly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Central and Southern provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala district.
During the early morning hours, misty conditions may develop in several areas, including the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces, along with the Galle and Matara districts. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility in these regions.
The general public is strongly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the sea areas from Mannar to Hambantota via Kankasanthurai, Trincomalee and Pottuvil. Additional showers or thundershowers may occur in the sea areas from Colombo to Matara via Galle during the evening or night.
Winds will be south-westerly or variable in direction, with speeds ranging between 20–30 kmph. Sea conditions around the island are expected to be slight. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
