Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya district after 1.00 p.m. These afternoon and evening showers may bring brief but intense rainfall in some areas, while most other parts of the island will experience mainly dry weather conditions throughout the day.
Misty conditions are likely during the early morning hours in parts of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, including the districts of Galle and Matara. Reduced visibility can be expected during these hours, and motorists are advised to drive with caution.
According to Department of Meteorology Sri Lanka, atmospheric conditions are expected to become increasingly favorable for evening thundershowers across most parts of the island from 20 April onwards. This indicates a gradual shift toward more unsettled weather in the coming days.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
