Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at several places across Sri Lanka after 2.00 p.m., particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, North-Western and Uva provinces. Rainfall activity will also affect the districts of Ampara, Batticaloa and Anuradhapura. Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm are likely in some areas of the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Meanwhile, mainly dry weather will prevail in the remaining parts of the island. Misty conditions can be expected during the early morning hours in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, along with Galle and Matara districts. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.
The public is kindly requested to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it will be directly overhead parts of Sri Lanka during this period. On 12 April, areas such as Cheddikulam, Kebithigollewa, Gomarankadawala and Nilaveli will experience overhead sun conditions around 12:11 p.m.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers are expected in sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota. Winds will be westerly or variable at 20–30 kmph, and sea conditions will be generally slight. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
