Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places across Sri Lanka today, mainly after 2.00 p.m. According to the forecast, rainfall will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Southern and Uva provinces, as well as in the districts of Anuradhapura, Mannar, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. Meanwhile, mainly dry weather will prevail over the other parts of the island.
Misty conditions can be expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning, leading to reduced visibility. Motorists are advised to drive carefully during these periods.
The public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
In addition, due to the apparent northward movement of the sun, it will be directly overhead in parts of Sri Lanka from 5th to 15th April. Today around 12:11 noon, areas such as Pomparippu, Anuradhapura, Mihinthale, Galenbindunuwewa, Agbopura and Serunuwara will experience this phenomenon.
