Showers or thundershowers are expected to develop in several parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 p.m. today. The Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and North-central provinces, along with the districts of Galle, Matara and Vavuniya, are likely to experience afternoon or evening rainfall. A few showers may also occur in other parts of the island during the evening or night.
Morning showers are possible in coastal areas of the Western Province, as well as in the Puttalam and Jaffna districts. Meanwhile, misty conditions can be expected during the early hours of the morning in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, and in Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts.
Residents are advised to remain cautious, as thundershowers may bring temporary localized strong winds and lightning.
Additionally, due to the sun’s apparent northward movement, it will be directly overhead parts of Sri Lanka today around 12:13 p.m., including areas such as Dehiwala, Maharagama and Pottuvil.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers may occur in sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle. Winds will be south-westerly or westerly at 25–35 kmph, increasing up to 45 kmph at times. Sea conditions may be fairly rough in these areas, while other sea regions remain slight to moderate.
