Atmospheric conditions across Sri Lanka are expected to favor the development of afternoon thundershowers today. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most parts of the island after 2.00 p.m., bringing widespread rainfall during the evening hours. Fairly heavy falls of around 75 mm are likely at some locations, particularly in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-Central, and Eastern provinces.
In addition, a few morning showers may occur in the Eastern Province and in the Hambantota district. Early morning misty conditions are also expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and North-Central provinces, as well as in Kurunegala and Vavuniya districts, which may reduce visibility for commuters.
The public is advised to remain cautious, as thundershowers may bring temporary localized strong winds and lightning.

Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers may occur in sea areas surrounding the island, especially from Galle to Trincomalee via Hambantota, Pottuvil, and Batticaloa. Winds will be variable at 15–25 kmph, and sea conditions will generally be slight. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas can occur during thundershowers.
