Several spells of showers are expected in parts of Sri Lanka today, particularly in the Uva Province and in the districts of Batticaloa, Ampara, and Hambantota. These areas are likely to experience intermittent rainfall throughout the day as unstable atmospheric conditions continue to influence the region.
Elsewhere on the island, showers or thundershowers may develop at a few places during the afternoon or evening hours. Such conditions are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya after 2.00 p.m. However, most other parts of the country are expected to experience mainly fair weather.
During the early hours of the morning, misty conditions may occur in several areas including the Western, Central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Motorists traveling in these regions are advised to exercise caution due to possible reduced visibility.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
A few showers are likely in the sea areas from Hambantota to Trincomalee via Batticaloa. Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur in the sea areas from Colombo to Matara via Galle during the evening or night.
Winds will be easterly to northeasterly with speeds of 20–30 kmph, increasing up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil. Sea conditions in these areas will be moderate at times, while other sea areas around the island will remain slight.
