Showery weather conditions are expected to continue across several parts of Sri Lanka on 15 February 2026, with heavy rainfall likely in some areas, according to the latest forecast.

Showers will occur at times in the Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Ampara and Hambantota districts. Fairly heavy rainfall of around 50 mm is likely at some locations in these areas, which may result in temporary water accumulation in low-lying regions.

Meanwhile, several spells of showers may occur in the Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts, bringing intermittent rain throughout the day. Across the rest of the island, showers or thundershowers will develop at several places after 1.00 p.m. Notably, fairly heavy showers of about 75 mm are likely at some locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.

These afternoon and evening thundershowers may be accompanied by temporary localized strong winds and lightning. The general public is strongly advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage and ensure safety.
During the early morning hours, misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, and in the Galle and Matara districts, possibly reducing visibility on roads, especially in hilly areas.

At sea, showers or thundershowers will occur at times off the coast extending from Galle to Trincomalee via Hambantota and Pottuvil. Thundershowers may also develop at several places in other sea areas around the island during the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly at 30–40 kmph, increasing up to 45–50 kmph at times in sea areas off the coast extending from Kalutara to Mannar via Puttalam, and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. These areas are expected to experience fairly rough seas, while other sea areas remain moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. Fishermen and naval communities are advised to exercise caution.
