Sri Lanka is expected to experience mainly fair weather on 11 February 2026, although the prevailing dry conditions are forecast to change from tomorrow (12 February), according to the Department of Meteorology.
A few showers may occur in the Ampara, Batticaloa, Monaragala and Hambantota districts, while the rest of the island will continue to see mostly fair and stable weather conditions. Residents in these eastern and southeastern districts should remain alert for brief periods of rain.
During the early morning hours, misty conditions are likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Central and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Motorists are advised to drive carefully due to reduced visibility, especially in hilly and low-lying areas.
At sea, showers may occur in areas extending from Hambantota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil, while mainly fair weather will prevail in other sea regions around the island. Winds will be north-easterly at 30–40 kmph, occasionally increasing up to 45–50 kmph in the sea areas off the coast from Colombo to Mannar via Puttalam and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
These areas may experience fairly rough seas at times, while other sea areas will remain moderate. Fishermen are advised to stay attentive to changing conditions.
