Issued at 2.00 p.m. on 26 December 2025
Sri Lanka is expected to experience mixed weather conditions on Saturday (December 27), with isolated showers, afternoon thundershowers in the southwest, and gusty winds in several regions, according to the Department of Meteorology.
A few showers may occur in the Northern, Eastern, and Uva Provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa, Matale, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
In the afternoon and evening hours, showers or thundershowers are likely at a few locations in the Galle, Matara, Ratnapura, and Kalutara districts, mainly after 2.00 p.m.
Meteorologists also warn of fairly strong winds of around 40 kmph at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, the Northern Province, and in the Hambantota and Monaragala districts, which may cause temporary disruptions.
Additionally, misty conditions are expected during the early morning in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central Provinces, including Badulla, Galle, and Matara districts, potentially reducing visibility.
The public is advised to remain alert to sudden weather changes and take necessary precautions against lightning and strong gusty winds during thundershowers.
