Weather Forecast for the Next 36 Hours Across Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology has issued a general weather forecast for the next 36 hours, predicting continued showery conditions over several parts of Sri Lanka.
Showers are expected at times in the Eastern, Uva and Central provinces, as well as in Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts, with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm likely at some locations.

The Northern and North-Western provinces, including Anuradhapura district, may experience several spells of showers. In other parts of the island, showers or thundershowers are expected at several places after 1.00 p.m., with occasional localized heavy rainfall.
Fairly strong winds of around 40 kmph are expected at times over the Eastern slopes of the central hills, Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces, and in Trincomalee, Hambantota and Monaragala districts.

Misty conditions may develop during the early morning hours in parts of Sabaragamuwa, Western and Central provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
