Sri Lanka General Weather Forecast: Showers and Strong Winds Expected Over the Next 36 Hours

The Department of Meteorology forecasts unsettled weather conditions across several regions of Sri Lanka during the next 36 hours, with periods of showers, fairly strong winds, and misty conditions expected in the early mornings.
Several spells of showers are forecast for the Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces, along with the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts, where rainfall may persist at intervals.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few locations in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Galle, Matara, and Kalutara districts, particularly after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds of around 40 kmph are likely at times over the eastern slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central, and North-Western Provinces, including the Hambantota and Monaragala districts.
In addition, misty conditions are expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central Provinces, along with Galle and Matara, during the early morning hours, which may reduce visibility on roads.
The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to minimize potential damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
