SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR 26 JUNE 2026

Showery weather conditions are expected to continue across several parts of Sri Lanka on 26 June 2026, according to the latest forecast issued by the Department of Meteorology.

Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya. Residents in these areas can expect intermittent rainfall throughout the day. Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may develop at a few locations in the Uva Province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.

In addition to the rainfall, fairly strong winds of 30–40 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces, and in the Trincomalee district. People living in these areas are advised to remain cautious, especially during thundershowers when temporary localized strong winds and lightning may occur.

Sea Areas Forecast

Weather conditions at sea are expected to remain unsettled during the next 24 hours. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

South-westerly winds will prevail with speeds of 30–40 kmph. Wind speeds may increase up to 50–60 kmph at times in the sea areas from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

These sea areas are expected to be rough at times, while other surrounding sea areas may become fairly rough. Fishermen, naval operators, and marine communities are advised to exercise caution. Very rough seas and strong gusty winds can develop temporarily during thundershowers, posing risks to marine activities.
