Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of Sri Lanka on 28 March 2026. However, a few areas in the southwestern region may experience brief evening or nighttime showers. According to the forecast, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts during the late hours of the day.
Elsewhere across the island, weather conditions will remain largely dry and stable. During the early morning hours, misty conditions are likely to develop in several areas, including the Central, Sabaragamuwa, North-Central, and Uva provinces, as well as in Kurunegala, Vavuniya, Galle, and Matara districts. Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility in these regions.
The general public is kindly requested to take necessary precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during possible thundershowers.
Sea Areas Forecast (Next 24 Hours)
Showers or thundershowers may occur in the sea areas extending from Kalutara to Matara via Galle during the evening or night. Other sea areas around the island will experience mainly fair weather. Winds will be north-easterly or variable at 20–30 kmph, and sea conditions will be slight, although temporary gusty winds and rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
