SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW, 04 February 2026

Weather conditions across Sri Lanka on 04 February 2026 are expected to remain unsettled, with rainfall affecting several regions of the island. Several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces, as well as in the Nuwara-Eliya and Matale districts, bringing cloudy skies and intermittent rain throughout the day.

During the afternoon hours after 2.00 p.m., showers or thundershowers are likely at a few places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, including the Galle and Matara districts. These thundershowers may be accompanied by temporary localized strong winds and lightning, which could cause minor damage and disruptions. The general public is advised to remain cautious, avoid open areas during lightning activity, and secure loose outdoor items.

In the early morning, misty conditions are expected in parts of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Badulla districts. Reduced visibility is likely in these areas, particularly along hilly terrain and major roadways, and motorists are urged to exercise extra caution.

In the sea areas around the island, showers will occur at several places off the coasts extending from Pottuvil to Kankasanthurai via Batticaloa and Trincomalee. Additionally, showers or thundershowers may develop at a few places in other sea areas, mainly during the evening or night.

Winds will be north-easterly, with speeds generally ranging between 25 and 35 kmph. However, wind speeds may increase up to 45–50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. As a result, the sea will be fairly rough at times in these regions, while other sea areas will remain moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers, and fishermen and naval communities are advised to remain vigilant.
