The latest weather forecast for 03 July 2026 indicates that several spells of showers will continue across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya. Residents in these areas should keep umbrellas handy as intermittent rain is expected throughout the day.
Apart from the rainfall, strong winds remain a key weather concern. Wind speeds of 40–50 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, along with the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. People are advised to take necessary precautions, especially when traveling or engaging in outdoor activities.
Sea Condition
For sea areas around Sri Lanka, showers or thundershowers may occur in the coastal waters extending from Kalpitiya to Galle via Colombo. Winds will be south-westerly with speeds ranging from 30–40 kmph, increasing to 50–60 kmph at times in the sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota. Other surrounding sea areas may also experience wind speeds of up to 50 kmph.
Sea conditions are expected to be rough in the above-mentioned coastal waters, while other sea areas may be fairly rough at times. Wave heights could increase to 2.0–2.5 metres in the sea areas extending from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota. Fishermen and naval communities are advised to exercise extreme caution before venturing into the sea.
