SRI LANKA WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW,08 MAY 2026

The prevailing showery weather conditions across Sri Lanka are expected to continue over the next few days due to a low-level atmospheric disturbance near the island. According to the latest weather forecast, showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the country after 1.00 p.m. today.

Morning showers are also likely in the Northern and Eastern provinces. Heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm is expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert for possible localized flooding and water accumulation in low-lying areas.

Misty conditions may occur during the early morning hours in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces. The public is strongly advised to take necessary precautions against temporary localized strong winds and lightning that may accompany thundershowers.

Sea Areas Forecast

Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the sea areas around Sri Lanka during the next 24 hours. Winds will be south-westerly or variable in direction with speeds ranging between 25–35 kmph. Sea conditions around the island are expected to be slight to moderate. However, temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas may occur during thundershowers, and naval and fishing communities are advised to remain cautious.
