JEDDAH — Heavy rainfall has triggered significant flooding across Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, causing widespread traffic congestion and major disruptions to daily life.
According to Saudi media reports, torrential rains overwhelmed drainage systems in several parts of the city, leaving roads and low-lying areas completely submerged. The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert as conditions worsened, warning residents of continued severe weather.
Public transportation services were halted, and many major streets became impassable as floodwaters rose rapidly. Authorities said rescue and civil defence teams have been placed on high alert, responding to stranded vehicles and assisting residents affected by the inundation.
Officials have urged the public to remain indoors, avoid flood-prone areas, and refrain from unnecessary travel until conditions improve and water levels recede.
