The Northeast monsoon is now fully established over Sri Lanka, bringing widespread rainfall across multiple provinces.
According to the advisory, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, Southern, and Uva provinces.
High-Risk Areas
- Northern Province
- North-Central Province
- Batticaloa and Trincomalee Districts
These areas may experience heavy rainfall exceeding 100 mm, the warning noted.
Safety Advisory
The public is strongly advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of:
- Heavy rain-related flooding
- Strong and sudden wind gusts
- Lightning during thundershowers
Authorities urge residents, particularly in the high-risk regions, to remain alert and follow updates from official sources.
